Unibet announces another acquisition – Bet24

Unibet have made their competing strategy pretty clear. Buy every other online betting site out there until they are the only one left!

This is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration. But fact is they are gobbling up medium sized operators at a rate of knots at the moment.

They’ve just announced that they’ll be acquiring Nordic Betting Limited who trade as Bet24 and operate the Bet24.com and Bet24.dk betting sites, primarily in the Danish market, for €13.5 million. Only a couple of months ago they bought Australian based Betchoice for about $20 million and a few months before that (November 2011) French operator Solfive SAS for just under €6 million.

A statement on the acquisition from Unibet read,  “Unibet intends to migrate customers and rebrand the business from Bet24 to Unibet as well as integrating the business operations in due course.” Pretty much the same statement that they rolled out for Betchoice (remove Betchoice, insert Bet24!).  This latest acquisition is still subject to regulatory clearance but Unibet expect this will happen and the takeover will be complete before mid 2012.

From a live casino gambling perspective current Bet24 customers won’t notice much of a change since Bet24 offer already offer live games from Evolution Gaming. They’ll still be able to play with their favorite dealers post acquisition but will have the added benefit of getting access to Unibet’s dedicated live casino room which means more tables and more dealers at any given time.
