Vera&John: first regulated live dealer casino to accept Bitcoin deposits

Malta based online casino Vera & John announced yesterday on their website that they now accept Bitcoin deposits.

In doing so, they lay claim to being the first licensed & regulated online casino allowing players to deposit funds using Bitcoin.

In case you’re wondering, yes they do have live casino games. In fact depending on where in the world you are accessing their website from you will find either Bodog’s live dealers under the Casino Macau banner;  HO Gaming live dealers under the Casino Singapore banner; or if you are in Europe somewhere you’ll be able to play Evolution Gaming live dealers.

A statement on their website reads:

“One of our key company values is innovation and that is why we are very proud to be the first regulated and licensed online casino to offer bitcoin to our customers”

For those unfamiliar with this new digital currency, you can read more about Bitcoin here. It’s a cryptocurrency that is fast gaining acceptance in the mainstream (much to the chagrin of the banking establishment).

Only two years ago the murky online black market site Silk Road was just about only major retailer accepting Bitcoins. Today major retailers and organisations like Overstock, TigerDirect and the NBA’s Sacramento Kings have jumped on the bandwagon, with a flood of big names to follow suit in coming months. Bitcoin ATMs are starting to pop up around the world. My grandmother is still struggling to come to terms with regular cash ATMs…I sincerely hope she doesn’t stumble across a Bitcoin ATM.

Yep, it’s a brave (and confusing) new world.

Congrats Vera& John for being at the pointy end of it!
