    First impression at "Smarties"

    Hello everybody!

Here in Latvia we got another rainy, cloudy day, which you absolutely wouldn't like to spend outside. Well, it's 21st century, I have a PC, non interesed in knitting, so I decided to try out online gambling. I logged in Smart Live Casino. I love Roulette, so I played several rounds with extremelly talkactive dealers - Caroline, Amina, Brad and two James.

I am an online dealer/host/presenter myself (on the Playtech European platform), so first I was comparing -
*they are adults, we are girls (and few boys),
*they mother language is English, our is Latvian/Russian, and the difference is so huge - they are chilling out while commenting all the time the results, wheather or Bank Holiday (mmm, what's that?), we too are chilling out, but it doesn't sounds so poetic,
*the chat - we do chat, they - not really, they are mostly talking to themself. I think we have a bit more fun, as we are really having a conversation almost all the time, though they sound more professional, by mentioning sectors, stats etc.

Well the stats - I started with USD 1000, ended up with USD 1541 (not mine, some fun money). Three dealers out of five were making fun about my nickname - in a good way, I mean, it made them smile. By the way - Caroline was giggling a lot because of it, and my judgment is that it sounds absolutelly adorable and I promised myself to do it more often as well. James Nr.1 (the blond one) made me laugh with some nice jokes, for example, "lets's hope there will be a nice weather in September, though I saw some pigs flying in the sky aswell". It seems, that for British people the weather is as sensitive topic as for us - Latvia's citizens. Amina made me seriously think about bleaching my teeth as well - nice view indeed.

By the way - I am having few questions for someone there on SLC. Why aren't you opened 24/7? Why do you chat with the players so less? Does somebody there likes to deal BJ (everybody looked a bit like punished)? Maybe they seems to be a newbie questions, but I am afraid I am a newbie.

From what I've seen you Latvian girls are doing OK in the white teeth department!

I can jump in on the 24/7 thing...maybe one of the Smart Live reps can add more detail.

Because theirs is primarily a 'for television' platform (hence presenters with very white teeth and 'poetic' banter), Smart Live Casino's games only run during scheduled broadcast times. I imagine there are some Ofcom regulations that limit the times that casino games can be broadcast on television in the UK to evening/early morning.

Are there plans to expand game times for the benefit of the web-playing and non-UK customers? Not sure.
'coz good old fashioned real random beats simulated random any day

Hey folks, I'm new here, so I hope you don't mind me bringing up a relatively old thread, but I thought I might be able to assist in answering some of the questions raised about SLC.

From what I've been told, Live Roulette isn't 24/7 due to only having one wheel which is able to be broadcast on TV. The three-hour off-air period gives the team time to perform maintenance, while keeping a sensible shift pattern for the dealers. Blackjack and Baccarat's hours are tailored to the shift patterns, too. As far as I know, OFCOM have no regulations regarding broadcast times for live casinos. I think it's simply a convenience thing. The rumours about 24/7 have been circulating again recently, but I doubt hours will be extended in the near future.

The lack of interaction between players and croupiers has become more apparent in recent months. The only way to get in touch with the main studio is to email them, and then the interaction lies with the producer of the broadcast - normally a native Turkish speaker whose second language is English, so very occasionally, things will get lost in translation. However, this producer is looking after all the live games, so quite often, won't have time to read emails out.

They've recently opened a second roulette wheel - Grand Roulette - which normally allows far better interaction between players and dealers, as it's on the Evolution Gaming system and the dealers are able to see the chat in realtime on the screen in front of them. Grand Roulette is currently live between 6pm and 12mn (GMT), and other live games are also planned to be on the same system in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, due to a blackout in their studios a few days ago, chat isn't currently live, but they're looking to resolve that issue in the next week or so.

The dealers used to enjoy dealing blackjack when they shared a studio with Live Roulette. However, they've moved into a separate studio, and feel a little bit isolated - the same is true for Baccarat - so quite often, they're dealing on their own for 30 minutes. The only interaction they get is seeing players join and leave the table, and occasionally, a word or two from the producer. So, it's quite lonely in there.

A Bank Holiday is better known as a public holiday outside.. basically, a day where most people who work regular jobs don't go into work. Most shops close early, and most public transport services run a reduced timetable.

I've passed on your kind words to the dealers.. I know all of them will appreciate them - especially Caroline. And, if you have any SLC-related queries, I'm usually good at finding out answers pretty quickly, so feel free to message me and I'll try and get a decent reply sent to you.
