Amaya, founded in 2004, made headlines around the world in 2014 by pulling off the audacious acquisition of the much larger Rational Group (owners of the PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker brands) for $4.9 billion.
Understandably they now describe their primary business as ‘the Rational Group’, which collectively forms the largest poker business in the world.
Prior to the Rational acquisition online casino software development was their core business. They develop RNG games for PC and mobile play under the Amaya brand. Casino software companies Cryptologic and Ongame are also part of the Amaya Group.
Amaya are late comers to live gaming. They teamed with established live games providers HoGaming to launch a suit of European market facing games in 2012.
