House Committee passes Barney Frank's I-gaming bill
28 July 2010, Staff writer

H.R. 2267, a bill to regulate and license online gambling
service providers in the US overcame a significant milestone today.
By a majority vote of 41 to 22 it was passed by the House
Financial Services Committee.
A few amendments to the original bill, sponsored by House
Chairman Rep. Barney Frank, were necessary before it got the required support.
They included a license prohibition for operators currently
taking American player bets and the use of credit cards to fund accounts.
The bill will now get to have its day in the House of
Representatives, although when and under what circumstances this happens (as a
stand alone bill or attached to a larger bill) is not certain.
