Victor Chandler gets South African I-gaming license

Victor Chandler have pulled off
somewhat of a coup in the lead up to the 2010 Soccer World Cup, being awarded an
online gambling license by host nation
South Africa.
South Africa only recently enacted online gambling legislation and have spent
time this year getting associated regulations in place. In August a
delegation from the National Gambling Board - the authority charged with
regulation and licensing of I-gaming operators, travelled to Antigua Barbuda to
study that nations long established Financial Services Regulatory Commission
regs.
The purpose of the trip was to get some assistance in putting together best
practice regulations and licensing procedures. It seems they feel they are
ready to start handing out licenses, and Victor Chandler are one of the first
operators to have their application approved.
A licensed presence, affording the opportunity to market their products more
aggressively throughout South Africa, may well turn out to be a golden
opportunity for Victor Chandler as the country gets set to stage the largest
sporting event in the world. The online gambling operator has moved
quickly to establish a Cape Town office and newly launched website dedicated to
the up coming World Cup.
Company CEO Michael Carlton, in a press release concerning the newly approved
license application said that Victor Chandler "are naturally excited about this
opportunity".
