China's Special Administrative Region of Macau is now by most
measures the largest terrestrial casino gaming destination in the world, with
almost 4,500 gaming tables spread across its current 31 casinos. Situated
less than an hours flight for over 1 billion people, and one of the few
jurisdictions in the region presently where gambling is legal, it is no wonder
Macau has established itself as the world's new Las Vegas. Not
surprisingly some of Vegas' bigger players are trying to get a foothold here
with Steve Wynn (Wynn Macau) and Sheldon Adelson (The Venetian Macau) already
operating casinos and planning more. Australian casino tycoon James
Packer, in partnership with Lawrence Ho's Melco International, opened the
City of Dreams in mid 2009.
Players wanting to log on and play live online in Macau have a number of
great options, all with localised support and games. And best of all you don't
have to deal with the crowds on the big casino gaming floors!
