Yet to introduce any online
gambling specific laws or regulations, Poland was described by a
European Parliament committee study conducted in 2008 as passively allowing
online gambling. Despite a lack of on
point regulations advertising campaigns for online gambling services have become
prominent, in spite of the fact that technically speaking the advertising of
gambling services is probably still illegal.
New gambling laws were promised
by the government in 2006 and these laws were to include provisions for online
gambling regulation. Curiously a draft gambling bill published by Poland’s
Finance Ministry at the end of 2008 failed to address online gambling but most
experts believe the current government’s desire to comply with the EC Treaty
should see the necessary amendments or additions to the proposed law to provide
a regulatory and taxation regime for online operators by 2009.

Regardless of the legislative
movements, few EU based online gambling operators place restrictions on Polish
player access. Few however (with live dealer casino) offer Zloty
banking options.
