Like most other Asian countries while specific online gambling legislation doesn't exist in Taiwan it is considered, by virtue of laws with respect to gambling generally, to be illegal and is frowned upon by authorities.  However with a lack of terrestrial gambling options and a clear propensity to play casino games, online gambling has proven a popular option and enjoyed exponential growth over the few years.  One of government's motivations for developing a local casino industry is no doubt to win players back from offshore online casinos.
