What is European Roulette?

Roulette is one of the most famous casino games of chance that consists of a numbered wheel, a roulette ball and a betting table. ViG has the honor to present you with European Live Dealer Roulette. Our players choose to place their bets on a single number, a range of numbers, on the color red or black, or on an even or odd number. Our real live dealer spins the roulette wheel in one direction and then spins the roulette ball in the opposite direction. The winning number and color is determined by what number slot the roulette ball falls in.

European Roulette is different from other versions of roulette because it only contains one single zero number and the numbers 1 to 36, totaling 37 numbers. American Roulette has an additional double zero number slot, totaling 38 numbers. It is important to know that European Roulette has a lower house edge (2.70% house edge) compared to American Roulette (5.26% house edge). French Roulette version is similar to European Roulette with one single zero, but French Roulette has the La Partage rule which differentiates the game. In European Roulette the numbers 1 to 36 oscillate between the color red or black except for the single zero which is the color green. The odds against winning are 37 to 1.

How to Play Live Dealer European Roulette

Once you engage to play live dealer roulette with ViG you will be sure to have a smooth ride. Placing bets online are made easy since our casino software assists you during the process. You first choose the bet type you wish to wager on by placing your chips on the designated area of the roulette table. Our software highlights the selected betting area of the virtual roulette table while you place your chips.

ViG's live croupiers will inform you to "Place your bets". You are only given a specific amount of time to place your bets. ViG has two main betting categories for European Roulette which are Inside bets and Outside Bets. There are minimum and maximum betting rules that apply separately to all inside and outside bets. Inside bets are bets placed on a single number or on a range of numbers based on their position. These types of bets are placed on the inner part of the roulette table layout. Outside bets have better odds at winning, but with smaller payouts. These types of bets are larger groups of twelve or eighteen roulette numbers. Outside bets are placed on the outer rim of the roulette table layout. Outside bets always loose if the winning number is the single zero. We have described the Inside and Outside bet types in more detail below (How to Win at European Roulette).

Finalizing the allowed betting time, ViG's live dealer will start to spin the roulette wheel in one direction and the roulette ball in the opposite direction. "No more bets" will be called once the roulette wheel starts to slow down, indicating no more bets will be accepted. Eventually the roulette wheel will slow down and the roulette ball will drop in one of the number pockets. ViG's live croupier will call the winning number and will place a marker on the real roulette table.

How to Win at European Roulette

If the winning number, determined by the roulette spin, coincides with the number or group of numbers you bet on then ViG's software will credit your gaming account with the respective payout. The biggest payout is on a single number or a straight bet. The smallest payout is even money or 1 to 1.

Below we have detailed the different types of bets, the odds against winning, and their respective payouts if you win. Remember that ViG's software will always assist you when placing the following bets by highlighting the number(s) included in the bet type you choose.
