Better than being in a real casino?
Spend enough time at the various online live dealer casinos and you see plenty of website slogans claiming the above, or words to this effect…’blurring the lines between traditional and online casino games‘, ‘better than a real casino‘, ‘capturing the true casino experience‘, ‘putting you inside the casino‘, etc, etc.
Very recently Playtech gave their live Euro platform a big face-lift. The most noticeable change that hits you in the face is the video stream – it reveals a brand spanking new dealer studio complete with dealers in uniforms that are more befitting their swanky new surrounds (very nice little black dresses). On closer inspection we’ve found that this cosmetic change is really only the tip of the iceberg.
A number of enhancements to the video delivery and interface functionality have also been made that dare I say it, put you inside the casino, or go a long way to creating this illusion at the very least.
Video quality enhancements
Playtech say that their new live site comes with high definition broadcast capability. The improvement in video resolution is noticeable…particularly when the vision is enlarged to full screen mode. Competing platforms get a little granular at this point – not this one (see below).
Video view/play options
Best left to the pictures to tell the story here…all views are customizable at the option of the player, not software determined.
Blackjack view 1 – default load
Blackjack view 2 – want to see the dealer up close (why wouldn’t you?)
Blackjack view 3 – play in full screen mode…note video clarity!
Roulette view 1 – default load
Roulette view 2 – wheel closeup view…selectable and controllable by the player

Calling it objectively as we see it (very clearly as it turns out!) this is impressive.
Limitations
If you’re playing over a fast connection (1.5Mbps+), none.
If you’re playing over a slow connection (1 Mbps-), you will get more freeze framing and/or deal lag than some of the other platforms.
