Introducing the William Hill Scottish Cup

For the next three seasons the Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the Scottish Cup, will become the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Already the official betting partner of the Sottish Premier League, Hill’s have decided to deepen their relationship with Scottish football with this new three-season title sponsorship deal.

The company’s chairman Gareth Davis said of the deal, “It seems fitting for the most established and biggest bookmaker in Scotland to be attached to the oldest Association trophy in world football .”

While Scottish FA Chief Executive, Stewart Regan said, “we are proud to have a leading brand like William Hill as sponsor of the Scottish Cup for the next three seasons.” This is media-speak for ching-ching.

For those unfamiliar with the Scottish Cup (ahem, William Hill Scottish Cup), it’s Scotland’s equivalent of the English FA Cup – a knockout competition open to all SFA clubs pitting the likes of heavyweights Celtic F.C. (current title holders) against lower division sides. The tournament winner qualifies for entry into that season’s UEFA Europa League.
