Cheltenham Racing Festival of a different kind

Cheltenham festival live casino race

Not familiar with the Cheltenham Festival?  Shame on you.

The Festival is to  jumps racing what Wimbledon is to tennis; what Wembley is to football; what Macau is to baccarat.  It runs for four days starting today and if you like horse racing, and in particular jumps racing, chances are you’ll either be there or have a few quid on some of the races during the week.

For those not familiar with what will be going on at Cheltenham during the week here’s the briefest of summaries.

Today is Champion Day and the first race of the festival is run.

Wednesday 14th is Ladies Day and the two legged fillies come out wearing their finest. If Ladies Day at Cheltenham is anything like ladies day at the races here in Australia, the blokes will outnumber the ladies 2 to 1, most of them doing their best to get to know some of the ladies a little bit better on the day.

The luck of the Irish comes into play on St Patrick’s Thursday. The feature race of the day is the Ladbrokes World Hurdle sponsored of course by none other than live casino devotees Ladbrokes.  A gelding named Big Buck’s, already acclaimed by public vote at the Anglo-Irish Jump Awards as’ Horse of the Year’, is chasing his 4th straight World Hurdle.

Friday the 16th is Gold Cup Day. Everyone likes a good climax and for the Cheltenham Race Festival this is it! A race card chock-full of quality and including the day’s feature, the BetFred Cheltenham Gold Cup…yes sponsored by our good friends BetFred.

If horses aren’t your thing, another race (for cash) is also on…

Now if you don’t have the slightest bit of interest in horses running around a track and jumping over fences with little people on their backs fair enough. If large social gatherings aren’t your thing, and you find picking a winner at the races harder than picking a broken nose, fear not. Because there is another race that is being run each day of the Festival that has very little to do with horses, and a lot to do with live blackjack and live roulette.

Each day until (& including) 16 March Paddy Power are putting  £/€4,000 cash up for grabs in a straight wager race in their live casino. Every £/€ 1 you bet on any of their live blackjack tables gets you 1 race point. Every £/€ 1 you bet on any of their live roulette tables gets you 2 race points.  The highest point earner each day gets £/€ 1,000 and 19 other players will also get a piece  of the £/€4,000 total  paid out daily.
