Bellagio Macau?

Bellagio Resort & Casino Las Vegas

Yes this is the Las Vegas Bellagio, not the Macau Bellagio.

And yes again, there is currently no Macau Bellagio…but it looks very much like one is on the way.

On October 18 this year MGM was awarded its first Cotai strip land concession and plans to build a 500 table casino and hotel complex expected to cost somewhere around the $2.5 billion mark. The company has said that they will likely be using one of their existing brands for the new project and what better brand to use then their most successful in Vegas – the Bellagio? Besides, they already have an MGM Grand in Macau so that’s out.

Vegas/Macau twins certainly seems to have worked for LV Sands Corp. Venetian Macau was such a success they decided to build Sands Cotai Central just over the road.

The new Bellagio (or whatever MGM decide to call it) will be built on 17 acres of land situated behind Sands Cotai Central. If it looks anything like the Las Vegas Bellagio it’ll fit right in on the Cotai strip…although perhaps a little understated.

Also coming soon to the Cotai strip are a Wynn mega casino resort (concession granted in May) and SJM’s 18th Macau casino which will have 700 gaming tables (their other 17 have 1,700 tables combined).

The Cotai strip is filling fast!
