A little good will goes a long way

When it comes to bonus offers from online casinos you don’t expect them to over deliver. Quite the opposite. It’s usually a case of over promising with under delivering.

The over promise is the very attractive marketing graphic telling you simply that if you join up you stand to get $200 Free (for example). The under deliver is in the T’c and C’s fine print which stipulates that:

  • you need to deposit $200 of your cash to get that $200;
  • you can’t withdraw the ‘free’ $200 until you’ve wagered it (plus the deposit amount) 25 times;
  • that wagering requirement is increased to 75 times for games such as blackjack and baccarat;
  • offer not available to residents of …
  • offer only available using following deposit methods…

To be fair not all casinos attach such onerous conditions, but you get the general idea (on over promising & under delivering).

Had a very different experience at BetFred today. Here’s what happened…

  1. logged in;
  2. noticed account balance was zero;
  3. figuring I hadn’t yet made a deposit and thought I’d take advantage of their 100% first deposit match bonus offer;
  4. deposited $100 and waited for the bonus to be credited to the account;
  5. nothing happened;
  6. think ‘here we go….what special condition haven’t I satisfied?’;
  7. open live chat and ask why my bonus wasn’t credited;
  8. am advised that this isn’t my first deposit…had already made a deposit on a prior occasion (forgetting these minor details tends to happen when you have 75+ casino accounts!)
  9. am further advised that as a good will gesture, I’d be given the $100 bonus regardless!

live chat session…

Now bearing in mind I had a very limited playing history at BetFred this was indeed a nice gesture of good will.

Had I already wagered many $000’s (as is the case at more than one Playtech powered live casino I can assure you!) then it wouldn’t bear mentioning.

Thanks BetFred!
