VR goggle live games on their way

Anyone wondering the stalls of the major live dealer providers at ICE this year may have noticed that a few of them had VR goggle displays.

Unfortunately those virtual reality installations weren’t demonstrations of soon to be released live game play technology. Rather, they were being used for things like, at Evolution Gaming for example, giving visitors a 360 degree look around their Riga studio.

If the idea of live dealer games is to replicate, as best is possible, a real life casino gaming environment for remote players then the potential for VR goggles to take this concept to a whole new level is quite exciting.

Imagine popping on a set of googles and being placed front and center before a real blackjack table and a welcoming (and also very real) dealer. Look left and there’s another live dealer catering to a full table. To your right is a roulette table, and looking over your shoulder is a large array of blackjack tables with dealers in full swing. You’re inside a real casino gaming environment; virtually there, but actually a few thousand miles away.

Pretty cool concept.

Concept no more according to recent claims from Media Live Casino.

On Friday their head of marketing, Angelo De Gobbi, revealed that they now have a live roulette table that can be played wearing VR goggles.

According to Angelo, the motivation for the new development, was to help tap into the millennial playing market.

“Our aim is to find innovative solutions to conquer a new target of players and thanks to virtual reality we can finally attract millennials who until now were not very interested in live games”

Customers will have the an already configured set of goggles sent to them, ready to put on and play. Presumably this means only those worthy (based on turnover history) will qualify for the new gaming experience.

“This solution also allows you to retain customers by offering them a VIP gift box already configured to be able to enjoy the new gaming experience. In the case of live games, rather than virtual reality, it would be correct to speak of augmented reality, in fact there is nothing virtual, throughout the game experience is based on real elements.”

No word on when exactly VIP gift boxes will start being sent out, or indeed which operators will be in a position to start send them to their VIP customers.

Looking forward to having a go at this one!
