This is a story that just keeps getting juicier as discovery documents come to light. The latest bombshell is that Black Cube’s engagement included a series of success fees, all based on the level of damage their report inflicted on Evolution, including:
– £350K if a regulator launched an investigation (hit that one),
– £500K if Evolution lost any of its licenses (missed this one).

In the face of mounting political pressure, NTRWC chair Alastair Shields has announced a temporary ban on commissioners accepting gifts from sports betting companies. The ban is supposed to stand until a formal code of conduct comes into place. Stringent regulation at its best 🙂

Gavin Newsom has now signed the AB831 into law. Sweepstakes casinos are now illegal in California. Under the new law, not only are operators subject to prosecution and penalties, but also game providers and other partners of the operator, including affiliates.

Anti-sweepstakes Bill AB831 was passed in the Californian Senate receiving a unanimous 36 to 0 vote today. It now progresses to the Assembly where it is also expected to pass, before being signed into law.

The New Jersey Superior Court judgement was handed down Feb 28, 2025. ! Judge John C. Porto has ordered that Calcagni & Kanefsky LLP (CK) have 7 days to disclose the identity of the party (s) behind the Calcagni report.

Part of the judgement read…

“…nondisclosure should not continue and thwart the plaintiffs’ legitimate right to redress. This court finds the weight of the plaintiffs’ current claims is more than sufficient to warrant the disclosure of the anonymous client’s identity.

The report lacks veracity and the plaintiff is entitled to all relevant discovery necessary. This court further finds that pursuit of the truth of the parties assertions is necessary here and disclosure of the client’s identity is ordered. The identity of the client is clearly necessary to enable the plaintiff to fully address its legal claims.”

So much for the KSA request/order. Anyone who watched the Dutch Grand Prix would have noticed the Stake F1 team cars in full Stake livery, from practice through qualifying and race day.

Ongoing industrial action and consequent disruption to studio operations have led to Evolution announcing August 12 that 1,000 Georgia studio jobs will be axed.

According to a spokesperson from Evolution, “The recent illegal actions initiated by one of the local unions have hindered Evolution’s ability to operate in Georgia and has hurt Evolution’s customers, many of which now no longer wish to operate their tables from Georgia,”

Client-exclusive tables in Georgia are being relocated to other studios amid a loss of customer confidence in Georgia. Tables are already being dismantled.
