    Differences in handling bonus cards

Inserting promotion bonus cards into blackjack shoes has become a regular procedure at several Evolution casinos.

But, it's a relatively new procedure at Playtech powered casinos.

If you have played at both studios you may have noticed some differences in the way they handle bonus cards:

If the dealer gets a bonus card at Playtech, or if it's the burn card before every game ... the card is discarded ie. not available to be won by a player.

Whereas at Evolution if the dealer gets a bonus card ... the dealer will push the bonus card back into the shoe so it can be won by a player.

Should be specified in the promo terms irrespective of platform/casino/promotion I reckon

But now that you raise it, I can't recall ever seeing a term about what happens when the dealer gets the bonus card instead of the player

Very interesting point Fester, given the number of bound card promos being run now
'coz good old fashioned real random beats simulated random any day

Actually, come to think of it many of these types of promos do specify a total bonus amount to be given out, which corresponds with number of cards x card value. This does imply all bonus cash cards are distributed to players.

Different situation with cards that become tickets for prize draws
'coz good old fashioned real random beats simulated random any day

I wasn't suggesting less prizes are won than specified in the terms of a promotion.

It was a comment about the procedure and thus likelihood of getting a bonus card at Evolution vs. Playtech

eg. imagine the scenario of 5 bonus cards spread among the 8 decks of a blackjack shoe ....

    At Playtech:

The shuffler brings the new cards (with the bonus cards already among the decks) to the table. Then shuffles the cards. Followed by inserting the cutting card approximately halfway.

So already some bonus cards may be behind the cutting card!

Then a bonus card could be a burn card before every game, or a dealer card. So those bonus cards actually in play are discarded.

    At Evolution:

A Promotion Host / bonus card lady (or possibly a man at William Hill) brings the bonus cards to the table and inserts them into the shoe before the cutting card. So all 5 bonus cards are in play.

Then if the dealer receives a bonus card they push it back into the shoe.

And, there are no burn cards at Evolution.

Therefore, you could play through a blackjack shoe at Playtech and no player gets any of the 5 bonus cards. Whereas at Evolution all 5 bonus cards are given to players.

Betfair's current bonus card promotion at Playtech is a perfect example of this scenario.

T&C + details of the promotion include ...

    • 2 unique Red and Green Cards will be added to each shoe.
    • Uncover a red card to win a £10 bonus
    • Green card qualifiers will be entered into our live raffle.
    • 5 winners will be drawn to win a Samsung Galaxy S5, 5 winners will be drawn to win a bonus of £500.

It is not specified how many £10 bonuses will be awarded, just that 2 red cards are added to each shoe.

Likewise for green card raffle tickets. All that is stated is the number of raffle prizes available to be won.

Meanwhile you could have been playing through a blackjack shoe at an Evolution casino knowing that players WILL get the promotion cards, rather than MAYBE at Playtech.

William Hill's (current) promotion at Evolution takes this difference in handling procedure even further! - see here

If the dealer gets the bonus card ... ALL players with a bet on the table receive the cash bonus.

Rather than returning the bonus card back into the shoe, or nobody wins it at Playtech.
