888 takeover bid for Bwin.Party

Hot on the heals of Fridays announced takeover bid by GVC Holdings (for Bwin.Party) , 888 Holdings have now thrown their hats in the ring.

Bwin.Party have confirmed they received a cash & share offer from similar sized rival 888. A takeover battle between 888 and GVC now looms.

Bwin.Party shares are up another 5% on the news. 888 shares are down 4%

888 only recently rejected a takeover bid from William Hill

Bit of moving and shaking going on at the top end of the net gambling industry at the moment. Tax/regulation changes in major markets seems to be encouraging consolidation
