News broke a month ago that the Latvian parliament planned to introduce a fee for live casino services from Latvia.

Talk was of a fee around the €11,700 mark per live casino table per year.

This proposed tax on tables now seems abandoned with the parliament announcing that instead there will be a set licence fee of €400,000 per year for all operators that offer live casino.

Good news I imagine for the big studios then, as they compete to add more and more tables....no need to relocate a large number of tables to Romania or wherever.

Question is, will the fee finally kibosh any lingering plans you may have had LD for a small VIP studio in Riga?

Absolutely...another significant barrier to entry for new operators as well (in Riga anyway). And 400K EUR won't worry the big studios...Evolution made €30 million profit last year. Will be over €40 this year so €400K certainly won't break the bank.

Haha. For 3 years I've been thinking there's a table in the Evolution storeroom that only needs the 'VIP.com' rubbed out and replaced a '.org'

    The dream is now dead
'coz good old fashioned real random beats simulated random any day
