There is normally an entrance fee charged to play which covers things like new tables cards chips etc. also to provide a small price such as a trophy for the winner. Currently the national police are raiding all the small bars where simple games of poker are taking place for as little as 60-70 euros. They have also outlawed bingo horse racing and other simple games such as play your cards right quizzes anything that involves a small amount of money. All this is what holiday makers need to make their holiday interesting. The state at the moment is just alienating all the tourists from outside of Spain when the economy needs this type of income which comes from tourism.

They are also stopping music in bars on top of all this, including background music. With the acception of culture style music and only for a limited time of about 2 hrs and you need to apply for a special license for each event.

Why not have a license for small gaming events with a limit on the amount of money that can be won, and the price of the license to be a nominal fee of say 50 euros a year. This would give some income to the government and promote tourism as well.

Dont make a mess of it like they did with contruction industry. Which is why Spain is in its present state (Does corruption ring a bell).
