Disconnections during live games are rare (if you have a reasonable connection) but they can happen...and if the game you're playing is blackjack then a disconnection matters and can materially effect the outcome of your hand.

Not a big deal if you've got $5 on the table. Certainly a big deal if you've got $500 or even $5000+ !

Anyway, for this reason I had a look at the disconnection policies of most of the major live game platforms some time ago.

A new policy that has just come to my attention is that of Global Gaming Labs.....

We are pleased to announce that we now have logic in place that will apply Blackjack Basic Strategy to your hand in the event you lose connection with our system. Basic strategy will be applied in the event you lose connection from our servers anytime after the bet timer expires. [However] we needed to modify the basic strategy in certain cases. The cases we needed to change are related to hands that are recommended to be splits as well as those that are recommended to be doubled down. When Basic Strategy recommends a split or double down, our system will NOT be able to process this action, due to the fact we have no way of debiting the money from your account. We hope that you find this new service of value
Definitely a fairer option than default stand policy (ie regardless of your hand total at the point of disconnection, you decision post-disconnection is deemed stand).
