HSBC credit card ban for internet betting

    This is an interesting one.

If you happen to have an HSBC issued credit card, and have run into difficulties using it to deposit into your chosen betting account here's why.

The bank has stopped authorising transactions with online gambling firms. Actually they say they stopped quite a few months ago but just didn't make any announcement about it - external or internal it seems...

The bank’s customer representatives also appear to have been kept in the dark. Of three representatives contacted on the bank’s credit-card hotline, only one was aware of the prohibition
Sounds a lot like casino customer support

The decision to ban use of HSBC cards came amid concerns that they (the cards) were being used increasingly at unauthorised betting sites. They've taken the shotgun approach and banned all payments...at unauthorised and authorised/licensed sites.

Wonder if a Paypal deposit (via HSCB card) would work?

Otherwise HSBC card holders who want to take an online punt on the World Cup or play live dealers, time to choose another bank!
'coz good old fashioned real random beats simulated random any day

I've had a few problems using HSBC and debit cards to make casino deposits this year.

But if I do a payment with Paypal connected to the same HSBC account no problems so far.
