Crimea and Sochi gambling zones

Crimea and Sochi are set to become casino gambling zones following legislation signed off by Russian President Putin.

Published this week the new law states that in Sochi casinos can only be in private paid for Olympic sites. But with no limitations in Crimea.

Several weeks ago I was discussing with an Evolution dealer the possibility of Crimea becoming the newest casino 'hotspot'. Although I don't expect we will all soon be playing online live dealer games from Crimea.

Another country to watch for though is Armenia.

In June the Armenian government granted a large casino group (Senator Group Ltd) a 3 year extension of its exemption from paying customs tax on imports of gaming equipment. The government clearly believes the gaming sector has a major role to play in developing the economy.

Hotspot alright. Isn't there a war (of sorts) going on between Russia and Ukraine to decide who controls Crimea??? Hope that's sorted before the poor dealers have to do their thing. not sure I'd like hearing gunfire in the background during a game of blackjack

Mr Putin doesn't mess around ...don't let a minor issue like whether or not a territory is yours get in the way of deciding its laws
