No slowdown in sight for Macau

While most of the world was in the grips of the dreaded GFC, 2008 proved to be a massive year for Macau casinos with an almost 50% increase in gross gaming revenues compared with 2007.  2009 was bigger again and then 2010 saw a hard to comprehend 70% increase on 2009!

It’s unlikely that kind of growth rate can continue for too much longer.  But it seems like it certainly will through 2011 at least.

A look at the half year earnings reports for some of the big operators – MGM China, Sands China, Melco Crown and Galaxy Macau, reveal high double digit revenue growth against the same period last year.

The stats at Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau for the first 3 quarters of 2011 tell a similar tale.

The above tables speak for themselves.  With a full quarter still to run in 2011,  Games of Fortune GGR (194,350 million) has already eclipsed the full year figure for 2010 which was 188,343 million.

No signs of a slowdown yet!
