No Commission Live Baccarat

The above screenshot was taken from a game of baccarat played at Club M88 live casino (powered by Opus Gaming).

The image has been reduced in size so some of the detail is lost, but if your eyesight is better than mine you’ll notice in the box top right that payouts are as follows:

  • Banker win: 1:1
  • Player win: 1:1
  • Tie: 8:1

If you can’t read the box then just take my word for it…these are the payouts for this game. M88 call it ‘No Commission Baccarat‘.

Regular Live dealer baccarat (or in-casino baccarat for that matter) players would have already picked up the fact that these are not normal baccarat payouts, which are:

  • Banker win: 0.95:1
  • Player win: 1:1
  • Tie: 8:1

The Player and Tie bet payouts are the same. But the payout for a Banker win in the no commission game no longer carries the 5% house commission (known as vigorish) and instead pays even money.

Hence the name…No Commission.

A catchy name and no doubt one that is sure to entice the odd player (or thousands) into believing this is high returning casino game. After all…normal baccarat only carries a house edge of around 1%. Take out the 5%  Banker win commission and we have to be approaching a player edge situation right!

Well not quite. There is one other important difference in payouts for the no commission game (top of the payout box above).

In the case where the Banker wins with a score of 6, the payout is 0.5:1. So essentially the commission’s just been re-packaged.

So what’s the house edge on Banker bets in ‘No Commission Baccarat’?

Bet Banker playing standard baccarat and the house edge is a fraction over 1% (1.06%).

You might be surprised to find that the house edge (for Banker bets) on the ‘no commission baccarat’ is 1.46%.  Despite the catchy name you’re likely to drop a little more cash in the long run playing this game!

Becoming popular

House edge considerations aside, it seems the no commission game is becoming very popular with players, both in traditional casinos (Asian based) and also live casinos.

The Opus Gaming version of the game went live at M88 just recently. Yesterday EntwineTech released the news that they’d be showcasing an equivalent rule game at the London ICE exhibition.

They’re calling theirs Super 6 Baccarat…

And if you thought the name Super 6 Baccarat sounded familiar, you’d be right because Bodog88 have offered a game called Super 6 Baccarat for more than a year now.

Their version also pays even money for Banker wins (note $4 win on $2 Banker bet) unless Banker’s score is 6 in which case the payout is 0.5:1.

But they also spice things up a bit by offering a side bet on a Banker win of 6 (the Super 6 Side Bet), which pays 12:1.
