Nexus Roulette live from Onair Entertainment

Nexus roulette

OnAir Entertainment wasted little time in getting their first live game show up and running. No doubt their ex-Evolution management are well aware how popular this of live games category is.

In Nexus Roulette they’ve managed to come up with something quite original too. The easy option would have been a roulette multiplier game. Rather they’ve come up with a 4 wheel roulette game. There are multipliers, but they’re not RNG generated. Instead upsized payouts are determined by how many times the same result occurs across all 4 wheels. The more matching outcomes, the bigger the payout.

Put another way, the results of 4 wheels connect to determine your payout. Hence the title Nexus.

Couple of warnings:

  1. all 4 wheels are auto ball launch
  2. don’t play this game if you’re epileptic – all the neon could well trigger you.

The Wheels

There are four wheels in total – Main Wheel in the foreground, and 3 other wheels. Each round the presenter flips a lever to launch the balls, and results drop in order starting with the Main wheel.

Nexus Roulette Bets

The virtual table where you place your bet chips looks pretty familiar. They’ve swapped NEON in for BLACK to jazz things up a bit (and confuse initially), and added a couple of outside bets – NEXUS and Wheel Sum. More on these below.

Matching wins = upsized payouts

Payouts on Straight Up and Outside bets depend on the outcome of all four wheels. The more matched outcomes the higher the payout.

For example, a Straight Up wins pays:

  • 28:1 for win on Main Wheel only (note, regular straight payout of 35:1 has been shaved)
  • 49:1 for win on any 2 wheels (doesn’t have to include Main Wheel)
  • 499:1 for win on any 3 wheels (doesn’t have to include Main Wheel)
  • 4999:1 for win on all 4 wheels

A Colour bet (Red or Neon) win pays:

  • 2:1 for win on any 3 wheels
  • 3:1 for win on all 4 wheels

Note, a win on just the Main Wheel, or indeed 2 wheels doesn’t pay.

New bets

There are 2 completely new bets, unfamiliar to regular roulette players.

  • NEXUS – here you are betting on any number (as opposed to a specific number per Straight Up bet) matching across the wheels. It pays:
4:1 for a match on any 2 wheels
49:1 for a match on any 3 wheels
499:1 for a match on all 4 wheels
It also pays 9:1 for a match on 2 wheels, and a different match on the other 2 wheels.
  • Wheel Sum
Here you’re simply betting on the sum of results across all wheels. Payouts range from:
364:1 for a sum of 0 to 16, down to
1:1 for the mathematically likely sum of 41 to 74

Bets with regular roulette payouts

The only bets that depend only on the outcome of the Main Wheel, and pay exactly the same as regular European Roulette are 4 inside bets:

  1. Split: 17:1
  2. Street: 11:1
  3. Corner: 8:1
  4. Six line: 5:1

There’s a salient note regarding these bets, compared to the others in the Return to Player section below!

All Nexus Roulette Bets & Payouts

All bets, associated payouts, and win requirements are clearly set out on the game’s pay-table slide-out, pictured below.

In the game round below, 22 came up on 2 wheels, yielding a:

  •  4:1 payout of €‎5, on my €1 NEXUS bet, and
  • 17:1 payout of €‎9, on my €0.50 19/22 Split (from racetrack Voisins do Zero)

Had 22 been taken Straight Up, rather than in a Split, the payout would have been upsized from 29x to 50x.

Nexus Roulette Returns

Here are the theoretical returns (RTP) for every possible bet type on this game.

  • Straight Up bets: 97.05%
  • Main Wheel inside bets (Split, Street, Corner, Six Line): 97.30%
  • Colour bets: 93.35%
  • Column bets: 95.89%
  • NEXUS bet: 91.96%
  • Wheel Sum bets:
    0-16: 94.36%
    17-40: 90.71%
    41-74: 94.52%
    75-102: 93.92%
    103-119: 95.89%
    120-144: 93.95%

Surprise, surprise, the best returning bets on this game are the ONLY ones that are unchanged from regular European Roulette – and replicates the RTP thereof (Split, Street, Corner, Six Line).

All the other tricked up bets with their promises of potentially massive payouts return far less. This is particularly so for the namesake NEXUS bet!
