Online casino rebate offers

Think online casino promotions and the first type of offer that probably springs to mind is that old mainstay of the industry…the first deposit match bonus. Something like “Get 100% bonus on your first deposit up to €100…deposit €100 play with €200“.

If you’ve been playing online for a decent amount of time you’ve no doubt stumbled across your fair share of these (same fair, some with 100 times wager terms not so fair!). But you may not be quite as familiar with rebate offers.

How casino rebates work

It’s pretty simple really. The rebate, expressed as a percentage and usually somewhere in the range 0.2% to 0.8%, is applied to your turnover (ie total value of bets placed) on specified games over a specified period and returned to the your account at the end of the period.

As an example, say you are offered a 0.5% rebate for all bets placed at best-rebate-live-casino.com in a given week.  You place $10,000 worth of bets and lose $75 during the week. Your rebate is calculated simply as 0.5% x $1,000 = $50.  This will then be credited back to your casino account. How much you won or lost placing those bets is irrelevant to the rebate calculation. All that matters is turnover.

Rebate limits, rollovers and tiers

Just like percentage bonus offers, rebate offers come in many different shapes and sizes.  They may be subject to maximum limits, rollovers and/or may have a different rebate amounts applying to a tiered turnover structure. A more complicated rebate offer would be something like:

AMOUNT $ REBATE $ MAXIMUM REBATE $
2,000-50,000 0.2% 100 *
50,000-200,000 0.5% 750 *
200,000 + 0.8% unlimited *

* 1 time rollover required within 1 month from rebate being credited to account, or rebate is forfeited.

So for bets placed = $300,000
Rebate = $100 + $75 + (0.8% x $100,000) = $975.

Still pretty simple.

Why rebates?

Rebates are the enticement of choice in the biggest casino market in the world…Macau’s VIP junket players so its no surprise plenty of online casinos (especially Asian based) offer them. Because reward is directly linked turnover (rather than , say 1st deposit amount) they are also an attractive option to high value players.

From a pure mathematical standpoint they can be very generous.  Consider a 0.8% rebate with no upper limit at a casino with 8 deck live baccarat where the house edge for Banker bets is a fraction over 1%. Add the rebate into the calculation and all of sudden the house is playing with a very skinny o.2% house edge. The catch is, to get a rebate offer like 0.8% (unlimited) you generally need to be playing very high volumes.
