WHO is 2011 online company of the year

Ever heard of the Betview Awards?

To be honest I hadn’t, and according to Betview they’re the Oscars of the UK betting industry.  Shame on me!

Anyway, they were held on Tuesday night at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane.  It was a star studded affair hosted rather controversially by Ricky Gervais who showed no mercy slagging off the industry’s heavy hitters.

OK the Gervais hosting thing isn’t quite true.  But this is…William Hill Online (“WHO”) took out the award for “2011 Online Company of the Year Award“.

An amazing effort really, given we’re only 3 months into 2011!

But what a 3 months it’s been for WHO. The company is a joint venture between Playtech (30%) and William Hill (70%), the latter of whom have spent a good part of 2011 maneuvering  to fend of a Ladbrokes take0ver of Playtech which would clearly upset the apple cart at WHO.

It seems all the top level M&A activity hasn’t distracted WHO from continuing to provide the punters with a quality product according to Betview.

WHO’s CEO Henry Birch, said of the award, “This is a fantastic achievement for William Hill Online. In winning the ‘Online Company of the Year Award’ it recognises the contribution of every single employee in the company – irrespective of function or location.”

I can say, hand on heart, that they do offer a cracking live casino product with both Playtech and Evolution Gaming offered all under the single playing account.
