William Hill closes its doors to Australians

William Hill closed to Australian players

Received notification today from William Hill that effective immediately they’ll no longer be accepting new  player registrations  from Australia.  The policy applies to all of William Hill’s online gambling properties including their casino brands Eurogrand and 21 Nova.

Curiously the no Australian player policy only applies to new registrations. Existing Aussie players (that’s me!) are still welcome to play… for the time being anyway.

Curiously also is timing of the policy change and the stated reason…

following certain changes in regulations, William Hill is modifying its policies regarding players who reside in Australia”

There has been absolutely no change in Australia’s online gambling laws or regulations recently, nor have William Hill announced that they are about to enter Australia’s licensed online sport betting market either by way of license application or local operator acquisition – a move which history tells us is usually preceded by a strict adherence to Australia’s Interactive Gambling Act. Maybe there’s another announcement to this effect on it’s way?

The downside for players down under who don’t already have an account at Hill’s is that you’re now denied the option of  playing with quality operator with great live games. William Hill is the only casino I’m aware of that runs both Playtech and Evolution Gaming’s live games (playable from a single account) which means players get the choice of 2 great platforms, hundreds of fantastic dealers, a limit range that allows bets as low 50 cents and as high at $80,000 and comprehensive support and banking options.
