Licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission

While playing a game of roulette at Ladbrokes this morning there was something (other than Vineta) that caught my eye. Surprised I noticed it to be honest.

Ladbrokes Gambling Commission

A small, but rather significant addition bottom right of the game window…’GAMBLING COMMISSION’.

Ladbrokes are now proudly displaying the fact that they have successfully acquired a license from the UK Gambling Commission. They’re not the only ones.

You may start noticing the Gambling Commission logo popping up in the footer of quite a few other operators…typically the bigger names of course, who would have made sure they were ready to go when the licensing deadline of November 1st applying to the new UK Gambling Act 2014 took effect.

Under the new rules, operators wanting to continue accepting bets from UK residents are now required to hold an additional license from the UK Gambling Commission; additional to any existing licenses issued by other jurisdictions that is.

A quick whip around some other casino pages revealed a bunch of other operators similarly displaying their new licence credentials.

William Hill’s footer now reads:

William Hill is operated by WHG (International) Limited a company registered in Gibraltar. William Hill is licensed by the Gambling Commission (Number: 000-039225 R-319373-001) for customers in Great Britain, and licensed by the Gibraltar Government and regulated by the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner (RGL no. 034 & 042) for all other customers.
