Le Tour De France Explained in Animation

tourHad a bit of a hiatus from the live tables for the last week or so. The reason? The distraction of a little bike race over in France.

I’ve always loved watching the Tour De France. It’s a mesmerizing battle of strength and endurance waged between some of the toughest men in the world, through some of the most spectacular countryside in the world. Throw in a little wager or two on each stage and it becomes very addictive viewing.

Here’s what I’ve learned betting on the Tour this year as my bets have escalated.

You stand a better chance making money on an American roulette table using a dodgy roulette systems than betting on the Tour.

Crashes (cash on Cavendish & Griepel on early flat stages down the toilet), team tactics (thought Gerro keeping the yellow jersey for 3rd day was easy money) and generally bizarre performances (Richi Porte in the Pyrenees!) make this harder to pick than a horse race with 200 starters.

Still great viewing though.

In case you have no idea what the Tour is about, and why there seem to be so many middle aged chubby men getting around in lycra these days, here’s a wonderful explanation of the greatest cycling event in the world.
