Casinos in Macau still smoking
Apparently Macau’s government has anti-smoking legislation in the pipe works that could make casinos there a smoke free zone. But casinos are eager not to lose smokers’ business and have preempted any smoking ban with an initiative of their own – installing air purifies designed to negate tobacco smoke.
Whether this will head off a full or partial smoking ban is anyone’s guess, but you can understand the casinos’ not wanting to change a single thing right now. Coming off the back of record September revenues, figures released this week by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau revealed October brought in a massive 18.9 billion patacas ($2.4 billion).
That’s almost half of the business done on the Vegas Strip annually…in 1 month!
It’s not just the players inside Macau’s casinos that are smoking right now!
