Live casino games for Android devices

There are a few live casinos or platforms now advertising that their live games are compatible for Android devices.

Last month HoGaming announced the launch of live dealer games for tablets and around the same time I came across the above Flash graphic on M88’s live casino page.

But if you were to visit this page on a late model Android tablet like a Nexus 7, then instead you’ll see something like the below graphic instead.

Further, you will find that all 3 methods suggested by M88 to get their Android live games games up and running on your Nexus 7 will not work. In fact you won’t even be able to read what these methods are because they are provided on another Flash graphic.

Adobe Flash no longer supported for Android

This recent development is the root of the above problem.

In August this year, Adobe announced as follows:

“Beginning August 15th we will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed,”

What this basically means is that all devices running Google Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and later operating systems will be blind to Flash. This includes all devices purchased with Android 4.1 pre-installed, like the very popular Nexus 7, as well as older devices pre-installed with a Flash compatible Android OS and subsequently updated to 4.1 or future versions (Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) is the last version that Flash will support).

It seems the nail is well and truly in the coffin of a future for Flash for mobile.

Implications for live casino play on Android devices

If the live games for Android devices are Flash based (as in most cases they will be) in order to play them you will have to have a device that is still certified for running Adobe Flash Player. That is…one of the older ones.

A complete list of these tablets and phones is provided by Adobe here.

If you are partial to playing live dealers on your tablet…don’t upgrade your device or OS software!

If you don’t already have an Android tablet and want to test out games like M88’s, don’t rush out and spend $308 on a new Nexus 7 like a certain gambling website owner I know. Trust me, they won’t work!

If the live games are HTML5 based (like Evolution Gaming’s new iPad games) then you shouldn’t have any problems, regardless of operating system or the type of device you’re on (Android or iPad or Windows). Supercasino also has live roulette purpose built for iPad, iPhone and  all Android devices so this is an option.

Finally, anyone want to buy a 2nd hand Nexus 7 – used for no more than 2 hours?
