Live (online) casinos taking Diners Club
Until I was issued a Diners Club card by an old employer for work related expenses, I actually thought the Diners Club was an actual club for enthusiastic foodies. This isn’t a lie. I figured you just presented the card at a bunch of participating restaurants and membership entitled you to a free dessert, glass of wine, seat by the window or other preferential treatment.
I soon discovered that the card did in fact get you that glass of wine, or dessert, its just that you had to pay for it…with monotonous regularity every month.
No, it’s not a restaurant membership card – its charge/credit card. But it’s far from common. According to creditcards.com only 0.4% of global credit card purchases, by volume, are charged to Diners Club cards. I think I can be forgiven for not being too familiar with the brand!
While it’s relative penetration is low, Diners Club (as the name suggests) is a card marketed to those with a bit more spending power than the average Joe Blow. And like American Express, the organization sells its services as more than just a credit card company. Membership has benefits that go beyond simply purchasing things. But also like Amex, this beefed up service offering is funded by higher merchant service fees than the ubiquitous Visa and Mastercard.
These higher fees are probably one of the telling reasons why most online casinos don’t offer Diners as a deposit option. Of course there are also a bunch that do – and this includes a few live deal casinos….
