Speed Blackjack Live from Playtech
Playtech have joined the speed-blackjack-deal party launching their Speed Blackjack table in the second quarter of 2025.
What is Speed Blackjack?
Speed Blackjack applies a slightly different deal convention to a game of 7-seat live blackjack.
Players’ initial 2 cards and the Dealer’s cards are dealt as they would be on a regular live blackjack table. But when it comes to decision time…Hit, Stand, Split or Double, instead of players being asked in turn to make their decision (with a time clock starting for each player), drawn cards are dealt in order of who decides first.
As the below introductory popup explains when you first open the table…
“In Speed Blackjack, players who decide first are dealt cards before the rest of the players on the table.”

And…
“Decision time starts for all players simultaneously”

Overall waiting time each deal round on a full table is cut down drastically compared to a conventional deal.
In all other respects, most critically the ruleset on the main game, this table mirrors Playtech’s regular 7 seat live blackjack tables.
Speed Blackjack isn’t a new concept.
Pragmatic Play Speed Blackjack tables have been around since 2022. The concept was pioneered when Evolution Speed Blackjack was launched back in 2020. It became so popular with players Evolution now operate no fewer than 50 Speed Blackjack tables!

Main Game House Rules
As mentioned above, the house rules on this table are the same as Playtech’s classic 7 seat live blackjack tables, summarised as follows:
- Dealt from an 8 deck shoe, re-shuffled mid-shoe.
- Dealer stand all 17s
- You can double after split
- You can double any 2 cards
- You can’t hit split Aces (ie you will can only draw 1 card to split Aces)
- Insurance is offered
- You can’t re-split
- 10 Card Charlie applies
- Bet behind offered
In addition to the main game, side bets are offered (Pairs & ’21+3′) but these are best left alone given their poor returns.

Speed Blackjack RTP
With identical house rules to Playtech’s other 7-seat tables, return to player (assuming optimal play) is likewise the same:
- Main game: 99.5% (assuming blackjack basic strategy played)
- Pairs side bet: 95.90% (should be avoided)
- 21+3 side bet: 96.30% (should be avoided)
