Silver Sands in trouble again

Silver Sands

A couple of months ago we watched with interest as a battle loomed between Silver Sands casino and South African authorities. Silver Sands aren’t exactly giants in world of online gambling, but they do market their product very, very aggressively in South Africa…which it seems has landed them on the wrong side of the Gauteng Gambling Board.

The GGB won round one of this battle, with a court ruling in August  forcing the casino close their doors to SA locals. But is was business as usual a few days later when leave to appeal the court’s decision was granted.

Now Silver Sands faces another legal/regulatory obstacle and this one is much closer to home.  The Silver Sands operation is based in Cyprus and it looks very much like that government will very soon implement tough new anti-online gambling laws.  They’re just waiting for the OK from the European Commission and then it’ll be bye-bye Silver Sands and any other Cypriot based operations…until they can relocate that is!

So South African players will soon see that familiar “Sorry, we’re currently unavailable”, splash page at Silver Sands.

But don’t worry, because they don’t offer live dealers anyway!
