2016 EGR Operator Award winners

The 2016 EGR Operator Awards were held last Monday at London’s Artillery Garden.

Not to be confused with EGR B2B awards, for suppliers to the online gambling industry (held in June 2016), the Operator awards as the name suggests, are for the operators themselves – the casinos/sportsbooks/poker rooms we play online.

There are a multitude of categories, so quite a few company’s get to feel special for some reason of another on the night. Obviously some categories come with bigger bragging rights than others.

Arguably the night’s biggest winner was Unibet who were crowned Operator of the Year (Oscar equivalent of Best Picture) and also winner of minor categories Socially Responsible Operator of the Year (Best Foreign Language Film) and Best Marketing Campaign (Best Writing, Original Screenplay).

Some familiar names popped up on the honor roll in the other prestigious categories.

Bet365 were named Sports Betting Operator of the Year for the 4th time running and Paddy Power took the gong for best Casino Operator. PokerStars three-peated the best Poker Operator award while Mr Green were names the best Slots Operator.

Betsson were judged to be the best Customer Services Operator. Sky Betting and Gaming won 2 of the 4 mobile categories: Mobile Sports Product and Mobile Bingo Product. 

No Live Casino Operator category as yet. Hopefully we’ll see this introduced in 2017.
