XXXtreme Lightning Baccarat from Evolution

XXXtreme Lightning Baccarat is now taking bets at a bunch of live casinos carrying Evolution games.

It’s Lightning Baccarat on steroids. More and bigger multipliers for increased outcome volatility. It’s a concept we’ve already been introduced to when XXXtreme Lightning Roulette went live early last year.

Evolution are on a mission to cover all the bases for the multiplier junkies out there, particularly when it comes to baccarat games. Options now include:

• Lightning Baccarat with 1 to 5 multipliers each round (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 8x)
• Golden Wealth Baccarat with guaranteed 5 multipliers each round (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 8x)
• Prosperity Tree Baccarat with guaranteed 8 multipliers each game round (2x or 3x)

XXXtreme Lightning Baccarat goes to the top of the payout volatility table, with 4 to 8 multipliers each round (2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x or 10x). It also charges a bigger fee to get amongst the action (50% compared to 20% for the other games).

What is XXXtreme Lightning Baccarat?

Take a standard game of live baccarat with normal bet options, win conditions and third card rules dealt from a single 52 cared deck (check the baccarat tutorial if these are foreign concepts). Then introduce the following changes:

1. randomly selected multiplier cards with multipliers assigned, which if dealt to the winning position increases the win payout accordingly, and
2. a 50% fee to the house on all bets

Now you have XXXtreme Lightning Baccarat.

Here’s a round run-through to illustrated in more detail.

The 50% house fee

On placing you initial bet, an additional 50% of your bet amount is deducted from your account. The €5 chip placed on the Banker position above cost €7.50.

Bet options on the main game are Player Banker and/or Tie. Pairs side bets are also offered (betting that the first 2 cards dealt to Player or Banker position are a pair).

Lightning round and multipliers

After bets close, 4 to 8 cards are randomly selected as multiplier cards (7 in the round above). Each card is also assigned a multiplier value – either 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, or 10x.

Should any of those cards be dealt to the Banker or Player position, the assigned multiplier becomes the new payout for that winning position. In the case of a Tie which involves cards dealt to both positions, all multiplier cards dealt out will count.

The multipliers also apply to the pairs side bets.

Below, a 3 dealt to the Banker position makes for a 2x payout.

When another multiplier card (3) is dealt to the Banker position the payout multiplies to 2×2=4x.

With a Banker win, the final collect is a handy €24.85. Short of €25 (which the equivalent Player win collect would have been) because for Banker wins only 97% of the bet stake is returned.

Couple of things to note here. In the absence of any multipliers, the Banker win payout is 0.97:1 – higher than the Banker win payout (0.95:1) on a regular game of baccarat. The top possible multiplied payout for the Banker or Player positions is 10³ = 1000x.

The top possible payout for the Tie position is 10⁶ or 1,000,000x. To guard against breaking the house bank in the possibility of this happening (albeit extremely remote 1 in 1,428,571,428 chance as noted in the games house rules), the Tie payout is capped at €500,000.

This basically means that even taking the minimum Tie bet (€1) the cap will come into play where the top prize is triggered – halving the payout from what it would otherwise be. For bigger bets the cap comes into play with only 4 multipliers being applied.

Long story short – the cap seriously compromises the theoretical returns applying to the Tie bet.

You’ll also notice that the non-multiplied Tie payout is trimmed substantially from the 8:1 normally applying in the game of baccarat. This doesn’t help matters.

Theoretical returns and best bets

Your optimal bet is Player. But both Player and Banker bets come with a pretty skinning house edge. These are your clear best bets playing XXXtreme Lightning Baccarat. Daylight is next.
