Hi-Lo Western Live from Playtech
There’s another Western themed live dealer table in town… Playtech’s Hi-Lo Western.
Hi-Lo Western joins Playtech’s Sticky Bandits Roulette and Evolution’s Dead or Alive Saloon as live games giving a nod to the wild west.
You can play Hi-Lo Western at Dafabet who were one of the first casinos to add the game.
What is Hi-Lo Western?
No prizes for guessing this is a game of Hi-Lo. Theme aside its very similar to Playtech’s original Hi-Lo.
For the main game you are guessing whether the next card drawn by the dealer will be higher or lower than the previous drawn card (or base card). Other bets are also offered, and most of these are identical to those offered on the original. The one exception is the newly introduced Wanted Card bet.
Game flow is also a the same as the original, with 3 cards burnt each round before the result card is drawn. That card then becomes the base card for the next round.
Hi-Lo Western Bets and Payouts
For the most part, Hi-Lo Western offers the same bets and payouts as the Playtech’s original Hi Lo game.
Payouts on the Higher or Lower bets change depending on the value of the base card and are clearly displayed on the bet map during betting time.
There are also a bunch of bets with fixed payouts irrespective of the base card.
- Snap: Card drawn is same value (any suit) as base card payout 12.06 x
- Ace: payout 11.56 x
- Ace or King: payout 5.78 x
- Black: payout 1.92 x
- Red: payout 1.92 x
- 2, 3, 4 or 5: payout 2.89 x
- 6, 7, 8 or 9: payout 2.89 x
- J, Q, K or A: payout 2.89 x
The one new bet is the Wanted Card bet.
Wanted Card bet and multipliers
After bets close a single card is randomly chosen as the Wanted Card. It is then assigned a multiplier value which can be either of: 20x, 30x, 40x, 50x, 100x, 200x or 500x.
If the Wanted Card is drawn, Wanted Card bets pay that multiplied amount. Had 8♣ been drawn in the above round, the Wanted bet would have paid a handsome 40x.
Hi Lo Western Theoretical Returns
The game’s return to player (RTP) rate across all bets is in the range 96% to 96.67% depending on the bet you take (and base card). The highest returning bets, all with an RTP of 96.67% are:
- Betting HIGHER when base card is King, Queen or 9
- Betting LOWER when base card is 3, 4 or 6
The RTP on the newly introduced Wanted Card bet is 96.17%.
There’s really not a great deal of difference in terms of RTP between the optimum bets and all others in this game. And let’s face it, if minimising your house edge was a key consideration you wouldn’t be playing this game in the first place, bearing in mind the best returning live games come with theoretical returns over 99%.
